‘A’ for America

The final destination for lot of people in Nepal, be it student, labor, engineer, doctor or even politicians – USA.
‘A’ for America is latest outing by Narayan Puri, who did muhurat shot last week with Keki Adhikari & Nir Shah, the protagonist of the movie.
After churning out lot of masala entertainers, director Narayan Puri has opted in for youth centric hard hitting social drama this time.
The movie will be shot both in Nepal & America. The movie also stars Raj Ballav Koirala, Rekha Thapa, Sunil Thapa, Santosh Pant, etc.

The movie, though claims to be work of fiction, has storyline based upon the true events.
For example the muhurat shot where Keki Adhikari laments in front of her father, about her life. How her own boyfriend raped her and captured whole incident on tape and streamed over internet brings back Namrata Shrestha, Pooja Lama sex scandal. Just to save herself from society, she is advised to flee to America.

Another story of an actress, who gets fed up with Nepali Cine Sansar and moves to Amercia for better life but are faced with daily hardships losing her own identity seems to be inspired from Karishma Manandhar’s life.

The first half of the movie focuses on reasons behind the skill & brain drain of Nepali to America. Some need to earn living for their family, some for studies, some for love, there are thousands of reasons for leaving Nepal, the major ones will be shown in the first half of the movie. While second half will focus on what happens to their life in USA, which will be shot entirely in USA.

Finally, Nepali makers are trying to break out from the regular Bollywood masala cocoon and trying something realistic contemporary cinema. We wish all the best to Narayan Puri and his whole team of ‘A’ for America.
