img_0007More than 8 days strike within last one month has hit badly the entertainment industry. How can an industry sustain if it cannot sell its products?
Its not just about screening the movies, all the work gets abrupt from shooting, post-production, pre-production, etc. Above all the regular strikes discourages the investors to invest their hard earned money in Nepali Cinesansar. The movie production cost increases, also the interest that needs to be paid to the financers, which might someday cause to ultimately collapse the industry.

Last year alone it is estimated the industry lost around 160 Million Rupees due to strikes. It hasn’t been long the industry was breathing some fresh air after Maoist unrest, but looks like all other political parties, ethnic groups and forums are just following the same path. According to trade pundits, the current two days strike called by Chettri Samuha will cause around one to two million rupees loss to the producers of the currently screened movies. Since start of this year (Baishak 2068), Nepali Cinesansar has lost at least ten million rupees due to frequent strikes called by different groups and political parties. It is completely discouraging news for the makers and investors of the movies.

Instead of putting forward their problem in systematic and lawful way, the groups opt in for nationwide strikes which hamper everyone’s life, including Nepali Cinesansar. First it was Newa & Tamang Samaj strike, then by Chettri Samuha outside the capital, then Madheshi party in Terai now again by Chettri Samuha has called 2 days Nepal Bandh, today and tomorrow.

As the constitution drafting deadline nears more and more groups, parties are calling these kind of strikes, chakkajams, etc which will at the end of the day hamper all civilians not the top brass politicians who can freely move around with tight security.

When will the people who call these kind of strikes understand and acknowledge this fact?
