After good response from outside the valley Swor, starring Raj Ballav Koirala hit the screens this week within the valley. Directed by debutant director Prasanna Poudel, who had already made hundreds of music videos, Swor – The Melody Of Dreams is a musical journey of youth which seems to be loosely inspired from Bollywoodd hit ‘Rock On’. Fresh faces and strong screenplay makes the movie worth watching but opt-repeated masala storyline & subplots just evaporates the freshness & youthfulness from the movie.
Troding the path of new generation cinema’s like Sano Sansar, Mero Euta Saathi Cha, First Love, etc, Swor definitely attracts the youth generation with its youthful characters and musical theme. When TV TRPs has been raising due to musical reality shows like Little Champs, Cham Chami, Khoji Prativako, Sprite Band Challenge, etc, the movie based upon musical journey of youth is definitely an attraction.
Raj Ballav Koirala, Sraj Garach, Amit Pokhrel , Joes Pandey , Reema Bishowakarma and Benisha Hamal star as once-aspiring musicians who chucked up their dream of taking their band professional. But in between their dreams comes a various social and emotional twist.
Had the movie not relied so much upon clichés subplots and focussed more upon proper presentation of major characters with good storyline, the movie would have easily made its mark. Nevertheless, the movie does have some of finest moments and good performances by the lead stars.
SWOR wouldn’t be half the film if it wasn’t for Sugam Pokhrel and Satya-Sworoop Acharya’s remarkable score. The one composition that stays long after the film is ‘Mutu Nichori’. Take a bow Sworoop for composing this beautiful track.
So, this weekend enjoy – SWOR !
