In Nepali Cinesansar records are made and broken quite often. Be it biggest number of prints, huge first week collection or highest grossing cinema of the year, every now and then such records are broken. Yet another record has been broken by last week release ‘Sasu Sasura Ko Pyaro’. Starring Kalyan Ghimire along with Garima Pant and Usha Poudel, Sasu Sasura Ko Pyaro was released last friday in major halls like Bishwojyoti, Guna, Gopi Krihsna and 26 other halls within Kathmandu & Pokhara Valley.
Due to some circumstances I missed the movie for the review, but thank God did I miss it. The movie was taken off the theaters within three days of its release. Normally, when a Nepali movie releases, its shown at least a week in a theater, but Sasu Sasura Ko Pyaro didn’t get the kind of response which the producer cum actor of the movie was expecting. So, the theater owners started taking the movie off and palying old popular hits like Nishana, Pale Dai, Kanyadaan, etc in order to save themselves from the further loss.
Sasu Sasura Ko Pyaro, as per its preview is a social-family drama, which might be one of the reason which audiences rejected out rightly. Nepali audience, who has been overexposed to regular Indian Sasu Bahu sagas daily didn’t feel the urge to see same old regular topic on the big screen. Except Bishwojyoti Hall, all the major halls Guna, Gopi Krishna, Ganga have already taken off the movie from their screens.
