hifajatHifajat got one of the biggest release ever in the history of Nepali Cinema. Released in 42 theaters around the country along with Kathmandu Valley, Hifajat garnered greens on the first day, unfortunately it could not last. It was not because of critics bad reviews or audience’s dis-satisfaction, but due to some Hindu religious group who have barred the movie from screening due to some objectionable scene.

In the movie Rekha Thapa has worn holy yellow cloth printed ‘Hare Ram, Hare Krishna‘ , which was the problem for this religious group. The way the cloth has been cut and how the actress dances in sensuous way wearing the cloth has heated up the matter. In the same movie, Rekha Thapa also carries a gun and done few action stunts with same clothes.
People affiliated to the religious group thronged into various theaters in the city to threatened to burn down the screens showing the movie.

According to Rekha Thapa, the whole thing is just a scam to bring down one of the biggest movie in the history of Nepali Cinema. According to her, Few people who are jealous of others success are trying to thrash the movie. She further added; Being Hindu herself, she understood the religion, so would never hurt people’s sentiments. She had even invited Hindu Religious group to watch the movie on Monday.

Producer, director along with groups have also protested such move by some groups to disrupt the screening, even after the movie has clearly passed the censor board. They have took the matter to Central District Office Kathmandu to settle down the matter.
