Recent Nikhil Uperti and Sanchita Luintel flying marriage has heated up the Nepali Cinesansar. Nikhil’s previously married wife Kopila is planning for legal case. They also have one year old son. Regular divorce might be a fashion in western world, but had always been taboo in Nepali Society. But as everything else, Nepali Cine Sansar seems to changing the lanes like its Hollywood and Bollywood counter parts.

Nikhil had married Kopila, while Sanchita was married to Akash some eight years ago. Incidentally both were love marriage, but things didn’t work out and finally they parted their way and Nikhil and Sanchita came into picture. Its not just love-marriage-divorce culture but there are many proof of bigamy and polygamy in Nepali Cine Sansar. Not just actors, but directors and producers also fall into this polygamy culture.
It’s somewhat unwritten fact that most actor/actress in Nepali Cinesansar cannot find good partner and finally end up marrying foreigner or NRN or previously married/divorced partner. For e.g. Saranga Shrestha, C.P Lohani, Bipana Thapa, Sani Rauniar, Rupa Rana got married to foreigners while Kristi K.C., Sajja Mainali, Gauri Malla, Jal Shah found NRN.

Shiva Shrestha, who had been married for more than 30 years ended up in divorce with his then wife Ganga, who currently resides in USA. Leaving three daughters who themselves are already married, Shiva tied knot with a girl who is much younger than his daughters some eight years ago. Another superstar, Bhuvan K.C. also has two wives; Bijaya who resides in USA, while latter Sushmita K.C. lives with him. Interestingly, even with Sushmita he has already filed divorce in court, but are still living together. God knows why ?
Another celebrity couple who are living together even after divorce is actress Ranjana Sharma and director Shaym Bhattarai. Actor Dinesh Sharma also has got married twice, first Sonia Malla whom he divorced within few months then young struggling starlet. Shiva’s and Bhuvan’s peer Krishna Malla also has two wives.

The society seems to be getting more and more bolder these days in Nepali Cine Sansar. Actress Namrata Shrestha, whose recent sex scandal MMS rocked the nation and web world alike, told media there was nothing unnatural with the incident. People who saw the video were just lucky. She not just walks in streets without any guilt or fear, but have got many endorsements and even movies too. Another actress who hit the MMS scandal was Pooja Lama, who had already divorced his first husband and was living single. She immediately got married to the guy in the video with whom she was having fun. Suddenly within a month, it is revealed that it was the Guy in the video itself who leaked the video on the net. Marriage ends in impromptu !

Another actress Rajana Sharma took boldness to new level. First she got married with director Shyam Bhattarai, then filed divorce, now after divorce she is not just living with the same director, but also got officially REMARRIED with the same director. The sanctity and holiness of marriage seems to have lost its charm. In Nepali Cine Sansar, there is one saying;

“नाम होस् बदनाम होस् तर गुमनाम नहोस् ।”

Definitely, Nepali Cinesansar seems to be following the trend.
