Santaan is one of the finest social family movie starring Bhuvan K.C., Arjun, Karishma, Gauri Malla and Shanti Maskey in major roles. Shanti Maskey, who played an old mother in the movie was labeled forever as Nepali Mother in all the movies after this movie. This is one of her best roles ever. Santaan is also one of the earliest Nepali movie portraying family values, importance of bond between family members.
Gauri Malla debuted into big screen from this movie. Though given glamorous kind of role, she does justice with her role. The movie also stars Karishma Manandhar (then Karishma KC) in modern glam doll role. Arjun plays good step son, while Bhuvan plays the evil son.
