malvikaAfter an eight year hiatus, Nabin Subba has taken up the director’s chair again with Goodbye Kathmandu. The film will feature the likes of Anoop Baral, Malvika Subba, Karma, and Shahana Shrestha, among others.

The film is a take on people who have come to the Capital with the hope of making their dreams come true. To the characters, Kathmandu, with all the opportunities it offers, is a city of possibility.

“Having lived in Kathmandu for more than two decades, I have not yet understood the mystery of this city, the tremendous power it wields on the lives of people,” said Subba at a press meet held in the Capital on Sunday. “Goodbye Kathmandu is my attempt to project the experiences people have in the city.”

Written by Rajesh Gongaju, the film tells three stories simultaneously, with Theierry Taieb in charge of the film’s cinematography. Shooting for the film began on Sunday. “I hope the film is able to do justice to the script”, said Gangaju.

Subba hopes to screen the film internationally, with the help of Nepalis abroad. The film has an estimated production time of six months.
