Bat, Ball & Beach… with Namrata Shrestha

Tourism, Sport & Recreation, that’s Beach Cricket Festival-2010 in a nutshell. A brainchild of Shangri-La Cricket Academy, it’ll be organized at the Riverside Spring Resort in Kurintar, in March-April. The event aims to promote domestic tourism in Nepal through the ever so popular game of cricket.

A super psyched Aamir Akhtar, the director of Shangri-La Cricket Academy informed, “I have a good feeling about this one; events like Beach Cricket has everything for everyone. And we are excited to be a part of Nepal Tourism Board’s crusade in promoting Nepal Tourism Year-2011″.

Injecting the glamour quotient to the festival is model, actress Namrata Shrestha, the goodwill ambassador. Gagan Thapa and former Miss Nepal and media personality Malvika Subba will also be lending their star power to the event as official supporters and promoters of the Beach Cricket Festival.

And by the looks of the participating organizations, corporate, agencies and the celebrities it promises to be a cracker of an event. And just so you know, the filmi brigade will have the likes of Rajesh Hamal, Nikhil Uprety, Rekha Thapa to name but a few. However, this event is not limited to only these participants; domestic and international tourists will also be involved in some ways.

Three events will be played on different weekends. Each event covers a period of two days and one night. The first event to kick-start the festival will be, Nepal Ice Beach Cricket Festival, it’ll be held on March 26-27. The second event will see Indo-Nepal Beach Cricket Festival on April 9-10. And rounding the festival is, Third Inter Bank Beach Cricket Festival that will take place on April 16-17.
